This classic hymn is known all over the world. Little is known about the author, however, when Lewis E. Jones wrote this song at a camp meeting at Mountain Lake Park, Maryland, he undoubtedly was inspired by the Holy Spirit of God. The reference bible scripture often associated with this song, is "The Revelation Of Jesus Christ" Rev. 7:14 In many churches, just like the one pictured to the right, pastors and evangelists have used the song as a sermon topic ever since it was written. Preachers refer to the song in subjects and topics of repentance, revival, and atonement by the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
In the President's April 9, 2003 State of the Union address, America heard Bush paraphrase part of this popular evangelical hymn, when he said, "There is power -- wonder-working power -- in the goodness and idealism and faith of the American people.

1) Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you over evil a victory win?
There's wonderful power in the blood.
2) Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary's tide;
There's wonderful power in the blood.
CHORUS:
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.
3) Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow.
There's wonderful power in the blood.
4) Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There's wonderful power in the blood.
